For his elevated life, God granted Saint Nectarios the grace of the Holy Spirit. Many sick and poor people came to the church of his monastery on Aegina seeking his help. Especially after the First World War, numerous impoverished and ill people, lacking any other support, turned to him as their spiritual father. Saint Nectarios instructed the nuns at his monastery to distribute all kinds of food to those in need, keeping nothing for themselves, trusting that God, in His mercy, would provide for everyone. Moreover, the sick were healed through the prayers of the blessed Nectarios, as he had been endowed with the gift of performing miracles.
