Embroidered vestments with the double-headed eagle and floral motifs
The flowers on the Greek-inspired priestly vestment, also called “ice flowers,” are surrounded by olive branches, symbolizing peace, and ears of wheat, a symbol of the Body of our Savior Jesus Christ. The crowned double-headed eagle, present since the earliest Christian centuries in the churches of Mount Athos and on the flag of the Byzantine Empire, ennobles the epitrachelion and the coverings for the Holy Vessels.
The felonion of the priestly vestment is beautifully adorned along the lower edge all around with floral motifs, and the icon of the Savior is highlighted by Byzantine arabesques. The epitrachelion is embellished with the double-headed eagle and crosses, while the sticharion at the bottom features the same embroidery as the felonion; the belt, cuffs, and coverings for the Holy Vessels are likewise embroidered to match the vestment.
The black color of the priestly vestment is very suitable for services during Great Lent as well as for funerals or memorial services.
Upon request, these embroidered vestments with the double-headed eagle and floral motifs can be made in any color desired by the client, with the embroidery matching the chosen color.
