Saint Hierarch Simeon Stefan was the Metropolitan of Transylvania between 1643–1656. He was also a renowned scholar of his time, notably serving as the translator and editor of the “New Testament of Bălgrad” (1648).

He was one of the greatest Romanian spiritual fathers of the 17th century. For his holy deeds, the Romanian Orthodox Church glorified him as a saint (canonized) on July 21, 2011. His feast day is celebrated on April 24.
