According to Christian tradition, this symbol was seen in a vision by Emperor Constantine the Great before the Battle of the Milvian Bridge, and thus it became known as the Constantinian Cross or Labarum.
The felon is embroidered with the Monogram of Christ and crosses all around, motifs also found on the epitrachelion and on the other pieces of the vestment.
